CONVICTS AGAINST CANCER
My name is Spencer Brasure. I'm penning this section for the website because I am a man who lost his precious five year old daughter Nina Elizabeth to Wilms Cancer (kidney tumors) in November of 1998.
There are many forms of death sentence. The cruelest fall upon those who couldn't deserve them less. Every 3 1/2 minutes in America, a child is diagnosed with cancer. No single arc covers all of human complexity. Unfortunately, cancer will touch the lives of every single living person at one time or another, either by directly afflicting them, a friend, or a loved one. No one is spared, young or old.
This brand new section of DRI, represents painful memories that are slowly being transformed into creativity and insight. Michael and I as co-founders of this venue are plugging away at developing a social media stage where tributes and stories of survival and loss can be shared by the international prison population and those in the free world---living memorials to those whose bravery and dignity continue to inspire us.
This undertaking will require a significant volunteer mechanism of cancer blogger, tech-savvy folks, and nominal monetary contributions to get the word out.
The State of California will eventually resume executions here at San Quentin State Prison and in earnest, there is but one reason for the air, I still breathe---to do whatever I can in the loving memory of Nina, to change the face of these silent killers. My personal situation must not prevent you from willingly using your homepage to exchange trade links to and from this and our Convicts Against Cancer pages at Facebook. This voice is about ensuring that others have ample opportunity to educate themselves about cancer and more importantly, standing united against the disease of a thousand faces.
With prisoners worldwide, one can envision the willing participation from those in various hobby-craft programs. At the outset, our idea is to enlist these prisoners and outside knitting / crocheting societies to donate thousands of colorful, kid-friendly beanie caps and scarves so that we can cover the little heads of children who have or who will lose their hair to chemotherapy, radiation, etc. , building bridges of redemption through these and other rehabilitative efforts.
Suffering children have always touched the hearts and minds of men and women in custody and the free world, and no one has ever brought a pilot program to the world quite like this. Convicts Against Cancer wants to work with agencies like, Locks of Love, StandUp2Cancer, Children's Hospital, Madison's Foundation, and a good many others who'll embrace these efforts as we get underway. My brother and his wife are avid bicyclists and have participated in several charity bicycle events, rides, races, etc. Events benefiting cancer research (like bike races) are on our agenda, but we need your help putting them together.
We've been planning to become a 501C(3) non-profit organization so as to meet the Better Business Bureau's "Standards of Charity Accountability", fundraising practices, and solicitations much like this one. Don't let the name fool you, we intend to set an international stage where benevolence thrives. We're willing to put your money and materials where our mouths are by getting you and yours involved. As it relates to current goals, we aim to develop a significant online educational presence by making Cancer-related literature available to prisoners and free people everywhere, and we'll certainly need to locate and find a way to cover the costs associated with the production of small custom fabric labels to have them sewn onto the knitted goods.
Anything you can contribute to these deserving efforts, please don't hesitate to contact us immediately. We need tons of active participants to make this work. Friend us @ facebook today and share us with your buddy list; pledge a token of your solidarity right here on this site toward our goal; assisst us in obtaining various inexpensive essentials (yarn for knitters, etc) and help us connect the dots with every major cancer venue and blogger online so that we can fully optimize this effort and ease the burdens and fears of families facing assorted cancers --- families desperate to save their loved ones.
Please let your heart lead the way, Thank you, the DRI project.

"EVERY STAMP COUNTS"
Due to the number of reply mailings we address to the global inmate population, providing accurate information regarding anti-death penalty educational resources and various other snail mail related content, we encourage you to open that kitchen drawer and unearth a handful of unused United States postage stamps. Partial books, sheets, strips and rolls of all denominations are welcomed.
Thank you kindly for your continued support and defraying these incidental expenses. PLEASE, EVERY STAMP COUNTS

This past weekend our own Jonathan Flinner (Michaels son) and his Girlfriend Brittni visited Michael at San Quentin State Prison. The last time Jonathan was able to visit Michael was last summer about a year ago, and before that it was two years. Michael is doing well at the moment, keeping in great thoughts and trying to maintain a stable mental health. His years on the row have really wore him down, it's not hard to tell that he is going through some really tough times. While there Brittni and Jon sat and talked with him for hours at a time, since they got an extended visit it seemed well worth the drive to San Francisco from Arizona. Besides working on the project from his cell he has been brainstorming more ideas for the website and for his upcoming writings. We ask that you keep Michael in your prayers, the more positive vibes that are sent his direction makes him feel better. On our next visit we hope to spend some time with Spencer also.
Thank you,
The DRI Project

"A BROKEN SYSTEM"
Once you see "A BROKEN SYSTEM" DVD trailer, Buy or Rent it, show it to your friends and family.
How would you feel if this was you, arrested, jailed, on trial, 12 of your so called peers convict you based on the DA's evidence? Then you are sentenced to DIE for a crime you did not commit, a crime committed by someone else. You're now on your way to Death Row, left there to rot until the state kills you, using some kind of cruel means; electricity, gas, or lethal injection. Think about it, this could be you.
